GUNLESS THUGS: New Orange County crime statistics show that crooks are getting bolder: They don’t even need a gun. Strong-arming, which can be physical assault or just ominous threats, has become the main robbery tactic here. Chief Deputy Dist. Atty. Maury Evans says it’s because street crimes are gaining on store robberies. . . . “In the last 10 years, this county has really become a metropolis,” he says. “More people live on the streets.”
