CBS Acquires ABC Series: For the third time in two years, CBS has acquired a series from a rival network. CBS said it picked up “Davis Rules,” a comedy produced by “Cosby Show” producers Tom Werner and Marcy Carsey that first premiered on ABC last January. CBS will schedule it as a “companion piece” next to critically lauded “Brooklyn Bridge” on Wednesday nights beginning in January. Earlier this year, CBS picked up “The Carol Burnett Show” and the year before “The Hogan Family,” both from NBC. “Davis Rules” was ranked 30 out of 141 shows for the 1990-91 season.
