Ice Cube: Profound as He Wants to Be
After reading Robert Hilburn’s review last Sunday of Ice Cube’s latest recording, I have some advice for David Duke: Record a rap record.
This way, Hilburn will rush to Duke’s defense on the grounds that his bigotry plugs into “the frustrations felt by many” and expresses this rage “powerfully.” Of course, to be fair, Hilburn would probably urge Duke to express himself without “resorting to demeaning language” that might otherwise “undercut his impact.”
On second thought, Duke’s already doing this. It’s just Hilburn who hasn’t caught on.
