Pacific Coast League water polo:
Laguna Beach 9, Costa Mesa 7--Tyler Rotleib and Tom Linden each scored twice in the third quarter as the Artists (13-3, 4-1) overcame a 4-3 halftime deficit at home to win the league title. Costa Mesa fell to 13-5, 4-1.
In Sunset League water polo:
Edison 11, Fountain Valley 10--Chris Egan scored three of his four goals in the fourth quarter, including the tying and go-ahead scores, as the Chargers (14-10, 6-0) overcame an 8-7 fourth-quarter deficit to win the league championship. Edison’s Lonie Peek had a game-high five goals. Ofer Horn paced Fountain Valley with four.
In the Angelus League boys’ cross-country finals:
Santa Margarita Wins--Ryan Wilkinson finished second and the Eagles finished with 45 points, six better than St. John Bosco. James Roldan of Bishop Amat won the individual championship, completing the three-mile La Mirada Park course in 15:29, four seconds ahead of Wilkinson.
Empire League girls’ volleyball:
Los Alamitos 3, Loara 0--Kelly Kuebler had 23 kills and Kirstin Laird a career-high 39 assists as the Griffins (14-2, 9-1) won their first league title since 1975.
