An El Cajon man burned to death in his car Monday night when he was trapped inside following a hit-and-run accident, the California Highway Patrol reported.
John Jackson, 23, was e driving his car south on Jamacha Road near Willow Glen Drive in Rancho San Diego about 6:30 p.m. when a pickup going north slammed into Jackson’s car, causing an explosion, CHP Officer Jackie Sturges said.
Jackson, pinned to his seat, was engulfed by the flames, Sturges said.
The driver of the pickup ran from the scene and is being sought by authorities. Police did not release the man’s name, but described him as 40 years old and an El Cajon resident.
