OJAI : Health Officials Shut Fast-Food Outlet
A Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant outside Ojai has been closed indefinitely by county health officials pending installation of a new refrigerator and flooring and other repairs, authorities said Monday.
A county inspector ordered the restaurant at 11534 N. Ventura Ave. closed Oct. 1 for failure to make repairs and improvements required after a June 18 inspection, said Elizabeth Huff, restaurant inspections coordinator for the Environmental Health Department.
The chain restaurant’s owner, PepsiCo, was ordered during that inspection to repair crumbling walls, replace kitchen and washroom flooring, replace the walk-in refrigerator and clean kitchen areas by Oct. 1, Huff said.
Huff said restaurant officials have put up a sign reading “Closed for Remodeling.â€
Ernie Cruz, the chain’s area manager, declined to comment Monday on when the restaurant will reopen.
