An exhibit of paintings by local artist Howard Henry Morgridge will open tonight at Newport Harbor Nautical Museum with a reception for the artist.
The public is invited to the reception, at which the artist will discuss his works.
Morgridge, who is also an architect, is known for watercolors of beach and nautical scenes around the Newport Beach and South County areas. He has also painted a number of marine-oriented scenes based on his travels in the rest of the country and abroad.
Most of his works will be on sale, with proceeds aiding the nonprofit museum.
The reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the museum at 1714 W. Balboa Blvd. For information, call the museum at (714) 673-3377, or museum spokeswoman Dorothy Beek at (714) 673-8744.
