Laura Iannone, a Corona teen-ager who lost part of her leg last July in a traffic accident, will benefit from a Broadway revue Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Centennial High School, at Magnolia and Rimpua streets in Corona. Irvine singer/composers George and Debbie Farrell will join opera singer Ashliana Petrovna in “To Laura with Love From Her Friends,” which includes songs from “Cats,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “South Pacific” and other Broadway favorites. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Proceeds will be used to help cover her medical expenses. Information: (714) 734-1913.
Soprano Jennifer Smith, 27, of Tustin won a $500 Encouragement Award in the Western Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera auditions held Saturday night at USC. Smith had won first-place honors in the Orange County district auditions last month at Chapman University. As an Encouragement Award-winner, she will not go on to compete for contracts with the opera company at the national finals next spring.
