SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP : Redlands Beats Occidental
Curt Landreth gained 154 yards and Shawn Trejo added 125 to lead Redlands to a 33-7 victory over Occidental in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Saturday night at Occidental.
Landreth and Trejo each scored a touchdown for Redlands, which improved to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the SCIAC. The Bulldogs probably wrapped up their second consecutive SCIAC championship.
Quarterback Derrick Williams rushed for 129 yards and passed for 157 for Occidental (5-2, 3-1).
La Verne 34, Claremont 10--Phelan Piestrup scored three touchdowns to lead La Verne (6-2, 4-2) to victory over the Stags (0-8, 0-6) in a SCIAC game at La Verne.
San Diego 56, Pomona-Pitzer 3--Willie Branch gained 124 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Toreros (6-2) won a nonconference game against the Sagehens (2-5) at San Diego.
UC Santa Barbara 42, Azusa Pacific 7--Amahl Thomas had 11 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Gauchos (5-3) to the nonconference victory over the Cougars (3-5) at Santa Barbara.
