Tragic End to the Umbrellas

Environmental artist Christo’s $26-million international project was a grand example of the power of individuals in an increasingly bureaucratized world. Perhaps it will inspire others to devote similar amounts of space, materials, labor and artistry to providing real--rather than metaphorical--shelter for those in need.
