FAMILY BUSINESS: What have Wilson Phillips and the Nelsons wrought?

When these pop progeny made a fortune last year for SBK and Geffen Records, respectively, by selling millions of copies of their debut albums, you just knew that we’d soon see albums by other famous offspring.

Well, here they come.

MCA Records will release early next year the debut album by singer-songwriter Owen Elliot, the 24-year-old daughter of the late Mama Cass Elliot. The pop/soft-rock artist, who is the adopted daughter of famed session drummer Russ Kunkel, is friends with the Wilson Phillips trio--which includes Chynna Phillips, the daughter of Papa John and Mama Michelle Phillips. But, no , neither Chynna nor the rest of Wilson Phillips (Brian Wilson’s daughters Wendy and Carnie) will guest on the new album, Elliot says.

And then look for an album featuring Edan Everly, the 22-year-old son of Don Everly, half of the famed Everly Brothers. The singer-guitarist-songwriter heads his own band, Edan, which also features drummer Frank (don’t call me Frankie) Avalon Jr. The L.A.-based band is in the studio working on album that’s due in April from Hollywood Records. The word is that the famous fathers will sit in on one track--the Everlys singing backup and Avalon playing the trumpet.
