Buena 20, San Marcos 9--Sophomore running back George Keiaho gained 82 yards in 22 carries and scored a touchdown to help the Bulldogs retain a share of first place at Ventura High.
Keiaho, the leading rusher in the region, scored on a five-yard run midway through the second quarter to cap an eight-play, 57-yard drive to give Buena (6-1, 4-0) a 7-0 lead.
Buena’s defense came up with two key turnovers to stop drives by San Marcos (3-4, 3-1) deep in Bulldog territory in the first half. Ted Ramirez recovered a fumble by San Marcos fullback Steve Guzman on the Buena six-yard line and defensive back Dan Lemp intercepted a pass in the end zone late in the second quarter.
