Israeli Settlements and Mideast Peace

Arabs claim that the plight of the Palestinian Arabs is the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the main problem awaiting Secretary of State James Baker and all the other delegates who will partake in Oct. 30 peace talks. The truth is that the Palestinian Arab question is the result of the conflict, not the source. The real cause is the refusal of the Arab states to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist.
The Arab delegations are now asking Israel to give back the Gaza Strip, along with all the other territories that Israel fought for and gained as a result of the Six Day War. But let’s not forget that all these territories were under Arab occupation until 1967, and none of these Arab countries (the same ones that will be at the peace talks), set up a Palestinian state.
