Corona Chick Breaks Los Alamitos Record

CYPRESS — Corona Chick ran the fastest 350 yards in Los Alamitos history Wednesday night, winning her division of the Kindergarten Futurity Trials in 17.22 seconds.
Corona Chick, a 2-year-old filly, broke the 1988 track record of 17.28 seconds, set by Send The Gals Candy. Her time was .01 off the world record of 17.21 by Mr Summer Jet in New Mexico in 1985.
Corona Chick ranks as the fastest 2-year-old in the nation. She has won seven of nine starts and set a stakes record in the Sept. 28 Ed Burke Futurity of 17.23 seconds.
She is owned by Robert Etchandy of Anaheim Hills, is trained by Frank Monteleone and is ridden by Kip Didericksen.
