The three-man America’s Cup Trustees’ Committee ruled that the challengers don’t have to have their final campaign boats in San Diego until Jan. 24, the day before their trials start, rather than Dec. 20, as the America’s Cup Organizing Committee had demanded.

The ruling, requested by the Challenger of Record Committee, will allow wealthier syndicates more time to build and develop newer boats, and the poorer syndicates will have a more reasonable deadline to meet.
