Cyclist Sought as Witness in Accident
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Police said Wednesday they are looking for a bicyclist who may have witnessed a car accident that led to the death of a 40-year-old man earlier this month.
Donald Bond Thompson of Huntington Beach died on Oct. 4 of internal injuries suffered when his bike was struck by a truck Sept. 11, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain said.
“There may have been another bicyclist near the location and we’re looking for him to shed some light on what happened,†McErlain said, adding that the witness is not suspected of being involved in the accident.
On Sept. 11, Thompson and the driver of the truck, who is from Rialto, were both heading south on Bolsa Chica Street, north of Bolsa Avenue, when Thompson apparently was struck and knocked down by the truck’s side-view mirror, McErlain said.
The driver was not cited pending further investigation, McErlain said.
