Court Challenge to Prop. 13

Apparently those who are now attacking Proposition 13 did not live in California in the mid-1970s when property taxes were doubling every year. Nor do they understand that Proposition 13 protects all home owners, new and old, from excessive property tax hikes because everyone’s taxes can be increased at a rate of only 2% a year, except when the home is sold. Cannot they see that they are only cutting off their nose to spite their face when attempting to abolish Proposition 13 because they are worried about how much their neighbors pay in property taxes? If Proposition 13 is abolished, tax rates will skyrocket on the homes of everyone.
