In another South Coast League girls’ volleyball match:
Irvine 3, Dana Hills 1--Karissa Meith had 19 kills and eight aces for visiting Irvine (5-4, 2-1). Shannan Meixsell had 10 kills for Dana Hills (2-6, 1-2).
In Arrowhead League girls’ volleyball:
Calvary Chapel 3, Southern California Christian 0--Courtney Owens had 15 kills for Calvary Chapel (8-0, 6-0).
In Garden Grove League girls’ volleyball:
La Quinta 3, Santiago 2--Carin Whittington had 16 kills, Shawnay Aguilera added 14 and Jennifer Green 12 as host La Quinta (8-1, 6-1) rallied for a 13-15, 11-15, 15-1, 15-11, 15-1 victory.
In Olympic League girls’ volleyball:
Capistrano Valley Christian 3, Whittier Christian 0--The host Eagles (7-1, 6-0), ranked first in the Southern Section’s 1-A Division, had 15 kills from Kathleen Bunce and seven aces, 12 kills and 10 digs from Karen Benkowski to defeat the seventh-ranked Heralds.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ volleyball:
Laguna Beach 3, Costa Mesa 0--Shauna Shapiro had 27 assists and Tori Scott and Rachel Wacholder each had 10 kills for the Artists (11-1, 3-0).
In Sunset League girls’ volleyball:
Edison 3, Huntington Beach 1--Kristi Pohl had 12 kills and Natasha Zila had 38 assists for Edison (7-5, 5-1). Huntington Beach is 4-5, 3-3.
In Empire League girls’ tennis:
Esperanza 13, Loara 5--Helen Ji and Molly Shen swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, for host Esperanza (6-5, 2-3).
In Freeway League girls’ tennis:
Buena Park 9, La Habra 9 (Buena Park wins on games 79-70)--The No. 1 doubles team of Staci Murgia and Kelly Coats and No. 1 singles player Caren Lund swept for visiting La Habra (4-5, 1-2).
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
Dana Hills 13, Irvine 5--Nicole Elliott, Anna Zaricki and Elizabeth Stevens combined to sweep all nine singles sets for Dana Hills (8-1, 3-0), losing only seven games.
In Sunset League girls’ tennis:
Fountain Valley 18, Ocean View 0--Michelle Berkowitz, who is 34-2 this season, swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for host Fountain Valley (8-4, 6-1).
