Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Woman Gives Smith Case Deposition
- Share via
William Kennedy Smith’s attorneys got their chance to question the woman who is accusing him of raping her in Palm Beach, Fla., March 30. The lawyers set aside up to three days for the deposition, their only time to meet the woman before Smith’s trial. Miami attorneys Roy Black, Mark Schnapp and Mark Seiden represented Smith at the deposition. The Jupiter, Fla., woman was joined by lead prosecutor Moira K. Lasch and attorneys David Roth and Douglas Duncan. The attorneys cannot comment specifically on the case because of a gag order. Jury selection is to begin Oct. 30. Smith, a nephew of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), is charged with raping the woman at his family’s Palm Beach estate.
