COSTA MESA : OCC Dean Named to State Board Term
Richard A. Chard, administrative dean of vocational education at Orange Coast College, has been named to a one-year term on the board of directors of the California Community College Administrators of Occupational Education.
The statewide organization oversees occupational training in California’s 107 community colleges.
Chard will serve as chair of the staff development committee for the 1991-92 academic year. He will oversee staff development activities for administrators and vocational instructors at the community colleges and will coordinate a statewide vocational education teleconference in March.
Chard, a Huntington Beach resident, taught industrial arts in the Long Beach Unified School District for 24 years. He was a part-time drafting instructor at OCC for 22 years and joined the faculty full time in 1980 as a drafting instructor.
He was a professor of computer drafting technology for six years and was named OCC’s administrative dean of vocational education in 1989.
