PREP ROUNDUP : Los Alamitos Girls Unbeaten in Tennis
The doubles team of Meredith Valt and Erica Ladney swept its doubles sets and Los Alamitos defeated Fountain Valley, 12-6, in a nonleague girls’ tennis match Monday at Fountain Valley High School.
Los Alamitos hasn’t lost in seven matches this season. Michelle Berkowitz, who is 22-2 this season, won her singles sets for Fountain Valley (4-4).
In other nonleague girls’ tennis:
Costa Mesa 13, Santiago 5--Jessica Lurmann and the doubles teams of Nhian Luu and C.C. Do and Yool Kim and Christina Morales swept their sets for Costa Mesa.
El Toro 14, Edison 4--The doubles team of Wendy Watson and Yvonne Dalton swept their sets in their first varsity appearance for eighth-ranked El Toro (5-2). Kate Kunath and Katie Maddrell rallied in their first sets to sweep.
In nonleague water polo:
El Modena 18, Troy 4--Cito Vasconcellos scored six goals and goalie Gary Geiger had nine saves for host El Modena.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Villa Park 3, Santa Ana 1--Mickey Trollinger had 11 kills and Anna Smith had nine for host Villa Park (1-4).
