For the last 10 years he had been senior corporate counsel for Fremont Indemnity Corp. in Santa Ana.
An active member of the community, Anderson volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Huntington Beach High School Cross Country Boosters Club. He was also a state board member of Phi Kappa Sigma.
Services will be held at noon Saturday at the Peek Family Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 7801 Bolsa Ave., in Westminster.
Anderson is survived by his wife, Margaret R. Anderson, a judge in North Orange Municipal Court; a daughter, Sharon Anderson Newton; two sons, George Robert Anderson II and Eric David Anderson; two grandchildren, Victoria and Stephanie Newton, and his mother, Ann Urbano Anderson.
