Joseph Kurtz Horton; Southland Attorney for Six Decades
Joseph Kurtz Horton, 87, an attorney for more than six decades, descendant of one of Southern California’s pioneer families and a onetime trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. During a 65-year career he also was chairman of the Committee on Administration of Justice for the State Bar, past president of the L.A. Apartment Owners Assn. and author of “A Brief History of Bel-Air.†He was a third-generation Californian whose grandfather was one of the first physicians to practice in Los Angeles.
