Ratt Attack Is an Injustice

This letter is in response to Mike Boehm’s article on Ratt’s recent appearance at Irvine Meadows (“Exploring a Ratt Hole at Meadows,†Sept. 16). Unfortunately, he failed to see any of the multi-platinum group’s energy and entertainment that was presented that night.

We feel that he has done these young men an injustice with his personal biased opinion.

My first question is: Wheredoes Boehm hold his credentials--in what field? Journalism or arts and entertainment? We have read his inept articles on other rock performers, and fortunately, a lot of people do not take his word for much. He has put down so many musicians that it’s a laugh. If he were a hot item back in the ‘70s reviewing Black Oak Arkansas, then he is too old to be reviewing music of the ‘90s!

Boehm said they (Ratt) had no flair. What if they had had flair? Would he have said “too much flair For offering a dumb appeal, as he put it, they have six multi-platinum albums under their belt. . . . They can’t be all that bad, can they?

I wonder how music reviewers like Boehm would perform on stage with hundreds of people looking up at him. Boehm is probably not aware of the grueling energies. To sit (on) his buns behind a typewriter and write what he did is a laugh.

If these rock groups are so bad, then why are they under contract to such record companies as Atlantic? Certainly they are not in the business for untalented people, are they? The debacle of Boehm’s opinions are worthless. We paid for six tickets and feel that we got our money’s worth. What a waste of money for The Times to have Boehm on their payroll.

We went to Cinderella’s show Sunday nite at the Whisky. At the Whisky there were a lot of deejays who attended the (Ratt) show and thought it was great, so in reality, who cares what Boehm thinks? Maybe The Times should replace Mike with someone with more flair.

No, we are not groupies or high school girls, but six intelligent nurses working in San Diego, and proud of the group Ratt.
