RETAIL/TOURISM : Disney to Come Out With Its Own Version of ‘Nutcracker Suite’
- Share via
As ballet companies present their holiday versions of the “Nutcracker Suite,” Disneyland plans its own. But don’t look for high culture here: “Mickey’s Nutcracker” on the Videopolis stage will strictly be a tongue-in-cheek affair.
It is the latest show to appear on the Videopolis stage, which used to be a teen-age dance floor before a show promoting Disney’s Dick Tracy movie demonstrated the popularity of Disney-style live theater at the site. The new show will run between Thanksgiving Day and Jan. 5.
Disneyland will also be promoting its new cartoon feature, “Beauty and the Beast,” during the holiday season. The movie’s characters will be included in the daily “Very Merry” Christmas parade and will have their own show at the Plaza Gardens, the bandstand that used to be called Carnation Gardens.
