Junior running back Paul Lopez scored three touchdowns and Crescenta Valley High posted its second consecutive shutout, defeating Harvard-Westlake, 21-0, Friday night at Glendale High.
Lopez, who rushed only six times for 40 yards and caught one pass for 29 yards, gave Crescenta Valley a 7-0 lead with a 12-yard run midway through the first quarter, dragging two tacklers into the end zone.
The teams slogged along near midfield until the fourth quarter when Lopez caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Schaeffer. Lopez then capped his performance with another 12-yard scoring run.
Harvard-Westlake (0-2) did not get past the Crescenta Valley 33-yard line. Crescenta Valley (2-0) shut out La Canada, 25-0, last week.
Senior running back Jason Roundtree led Crescenta Valley with 113 yards in 18 carries.
