Former junior-welterweight champion Johnny Bumphus was wounded in a scuffle in which another man was fatally stabbed, police said.
The dead man was identified as Douglas Shoffner, 58, of Tacoma, Wash.
Bumphus won the World Boxing Assn. vacant junior-welterweight title Jan. 22, 1984, with a 15-round decision over Lorenzo Garcia in Atlantic City, N.J.
