HUNTINGTON BEACH : College to Open Year With Convocation
Golden West College in Huntington Beach opens its 25th year on Wednesday with a formal convocation ceremony that is open to the public.
Faculty and staff will be attired in academic robes and regalia during the event, which will begin at 11 a.m. in the central quad of the college, located at Golden West Street and Edinger Avenue.
The ceremony to open the school year was inaugurated in 1989 by college President Judith Valles. A college spokeswoman said the convocation “gives students, faculty and staff the opportunity to come together, greet each other and be a part of Golden West College’s tradition of academic excellence.â€
