Citgo to Pay $6 Million in Claims Over Explosion: Citgo Petroleum Corp. will pay the record fine to settle federal claims that poor training and equipment caused an explosion that killed six people, officials said. Citgo denied any fault or liability in the March explosion near Lake Charles, La., but agreed to pay $5.8 million in fines and put $200,000 seed money into an industrywide safety training program.
