BUENA PARK : Nursery Parking Plan Is Rejected

A request to remove parking restrictions on the south side of La Palma Avenue near Tamarack Way was rejected by the City Council last week.
Village Nurseries requested the change to accommodate employee parking. The business has two nursery sites north and south of La Palma Avenue, east of Tamarack Way.
City staff, following a Traffic Commission recommendation, said the request should be denied because the existing curb lane width is not adequate for on-street parking.
The denial “is based on the fact that the lane is 2 feet short,” said City Engineer Don Jensen.
The original restrictions were put in place in 1989 at the request of several area residents.
