Norwalk : New Formula to Hike Trash Collection Fee by $11 a Year

Norwalk residents will be paying $11 more a year for trash collection service under a new formula approved by the City Council.
The new formula was recommended in a $40,000 study by a national accounting and consulting firm that was hired to give the city a customized plan to adjust rate increases.
City officials said they needed the customized plan after receiving repeated requests for rate hikes from the city’s garbage haulers, Consolidated Disposal Service and Jackson Disposal Service. Such factors as overhead and landfill fees were covered by the study.
Norwalk residents can expect to see the price increase on their October bills.
