Suspected gang members opened fire on a Moorpark man in front of his house in the second drive-by shooting in two days in the same neighborhood, authorities said Monday.

Ventura County sheriff’s officials said they are investigating whether the two drive-by shootings are related.

So far, no one has been injured in the shootings and no arrests have been made, Sgt. Frank O’Hanlon said.

“Both, we believe, are gang-related,†O’Hanlon said. “It has to do with the rivalry between the Moorpark gang members and gang members elsewhere in the county.â€

The 20-year-old Moorpark resident was in the driveway of his house in the 300 block of Susan Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when a large, dark-colored car stopped.

People inside the car yelled gang slogans and obscenities at the resident, who ran toward his front door.

Witnesses told authorities that they saw a hand extend from the interior of the car, holding what appeared to be a .38-caliber revolver.

Three to five shots were fired toward the fleeing man. The car then sped away and was last seen turning onto California 118.

The night before, Jeffrey Carifi, 18, and an unnamed juvenile were walking near Bard and High streets when a black Hyundai carrying four or five people passed them.

The group got out of the car, shouted gang slogans and chased Carifi and his friend on foot, authorities said.

Carifi ran to a house where several friends were. When he went back into the front yard, one of the people in the car got out and fired at him. The gunman got back into the car and several more shots were fired at the residence, authorities said.
