SANTA PAULA : 15-Month-Old Boy Dies in Family Pool

A 15-month-old boy drowned Thursday night after wandering into the back yard of his family’s house in Santa Paula and falling into the swimming pool, police said.
Santa Paula police said cardiopulmonary resuscitation was administered to Daniel Ruiz Jr. by family members and a police officer until the ambulance arrived.
The boy was rushed to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, but he died despite extensive medical efforts to revive him, police said.
Police said the toddler walked into the back yard through a door left open for fresh air during a family gathering.
