MIDWAY CITY : Shots Fired at Youth From 2 Passing Cars
Passengers in two cars fired several shots at a 17-year-old boy early Tuesday but hit only his car, according to sheriff’s officials.
Thomas Alan Cole was walking to his car parked in the 14700 block of Riata Avenue in unincorporated Midway City when two carloads of people drove by and fired two or three shots in his direction, said Lt. Richard J. Olson, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
At least one of the shots hit Cole’s car, shattering his windshield, but he was not injured, Olson said.
The two cars, each carrying about six male passengers, were described as a 1978 light-blue Buick Regal and a white Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Investigators do not yet know the motive for the shooting but will attempt to determine if it is gang-related, Olson said.
