In response to “Death Penalty Won’t Be Asked in Killing of Actress” (Metro, Aug. 1), wherein Deputy Dist. Atty. Marcia Clark said it seemed unlikely that Robert John Bardo, a first offender, would have been given the death penalty if convicted by a jury: Just how many people does suspect Bardo have to kill before receiving the death penalty? Is it when he’s a second-time offender? A third? Just what are the guidelines here?
