Brewers’ Higuera Is Sidelined for Season

MILWAUKEE — Left-hander Teddy Higuera of the Milwaukee Brewers will sit out the rest of the season because of a torn left rotator cuff, the team said Tuesday.
Higuera, who signed a four-year, $13-million contract with the Brewers during the off-season, began the season on the disabled list when a small tear was discovered in the rotator cuff during spring training.
Higuera tried to rehabilitate the shoulder. He was activated in May and appeared in seven games with the Brewers, going 3-2 with a 4.46 earned-run average before he began to have problems again. He returned to the disabled list July 5.
Higuera has a 92-56 record since joining the Brewers in 1985.
