IBM, NEC May be Near Agreement: IBM Japan Ltd. is close to completing an agreement with NEC Corp., one of Japan’s leading computer makers, on supercomputer marketing, according to news reports. Kyodo News Service, quoting unidentified company officials, said the deal, if sealed, would allow IBM Japan--a subsidiary of U.S.-based International Business Machines--to combine its wide range of computers with NEC’s most powerful supercomputer, the SX-3, and market the supercomputer under its own brand name in Japan.
