NATION IN BRIEF : MASSACHUSETTS : 62% in Poll Want Kennedy to Quit

Sixty-two percent of Massachusetts voters surveyed think Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy should not run again in 1994, a poll published in Boston said. A large majority of the 400 registered voters surveyed for the Boston Herald and WCVB-TV said they would elect Republican Gov. William F. Weld over Kennedy if the Senate election were held now. Weld’s lead over Kennedy, 59% to 34%, is far greater than the poll’s margin of sampling error, which is plus or minus 5 percentage points. However, Kennedy said: “I have every intention of running . . . . I’ve seen polls go up and polls go down.”
