Hammering the Windows: More than 2,000 youths in Penticton, British Columbia, smashed windows, overturned cars and looted stores early Sunday after attending a concert by rap star M. C. Hammer. The riot in the city about 161 miles east of Vancouver started shortly after the concert ended. The melee apparently was sparked by a group of 20 youths who began tossing rocks at a police officer directing traffic. Police reported minor injuries.
