San Diego
A Southeast San Diego house was destroyed by an early-morning fire Tuesday, the San Diego Fire Department reported.
Three people escaped unhurt from the house when the fire started, said J.J. Vono, a fire investigator with the department.
About 20 firefighters responded to a “full-blown blaze†at 12:46 a.m. on the 400 block of Cuyamaca Avenue, Vono said.
The fire was brought under control in about 10 minutes, but the house was gutted. The loss to the structure was estimated at $80,000 and the loss to the contents at $20,000.
“The fire originated from an electrical malfunction in the washroom, in the rear of the house,†Vono said.
