WESTMINSTER : 17 Arrested After Restaurant Disorder
Police from three cities and the Sheriff’s Department helped quell a melee Tuesday at a Vietnamese restaurant, police said.
Seventeen people were arrested on suspicion of rioting. One suspect, Khanh O. Tran, 26, was also booked on suspicion of willfully injuring a police dog, resisting arrest and inciting a riot. Officers said he hit the police dog with a glass object and broke its nose.
Officers said the owner of Thanh Hai Restaurant at 9633 Bolsa Ave. called police shortly before 3 a.m. and asked for help because customers were becoming unruly.
When officers arrived and began searching for weapons, the customers became verbally abusive, police said.
Officers from Santa Ana, Garden Grove and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department were called to assist.
Three revolvers were found, police said.
