SAN CLEMENTE : City OKs Time-Share Hotel, Retail Center
Plans for a 27-unit time-share hotel and a corresponding commercial complex have been approved by the City Council.
The project, approved by a 4-1 vote last week, is earmarked for a vacant parcel of land on the northeast corner of Avenida Pico and El Camino Real, according to a report from city Associate Planner Kelly Main.
Plans from the developer, Irvine-based Jordan-Valli Architects, call for a 92,000-square-foot development called the Gallery. The project includes a 10,000-square-foot commercial center with restaurants and retail outlets.
Concerns were raised over the proposed four-story structure because it would exceed a 30-foot height limit on developments in the city. However, the council voted to support the 45-foot-high project because it is planned to include a view deck that would be open to the public.
