Bush Creates Panel on Environment: President Bush named a new commission to advise him on environmental matters and heavily stacked the panel with business executives from industries known as heavy polluters. Among the 15 representatives of big business on the 25-member President’s Commission on Environmental Quality were officials of oil, paper, electric utility, chemical, mining and pharmaceutical companies. The panel also includes representatives from the academic world and officials of several environmental groups, including the World Wildlife Fund, Resources for the Future and the Environmental Defense Fund.
