Pediatricians Challenge Food Ads: The American Academy of Pediatrics said food ads aimed at children should be banned from television because they promote profit making rather than healthful eating. The Elk Grove Village, Ill.-academy, which represents 41,000 pediatricians nationwide, said a ban is necessary because children can’t distinguish between programs and commercials, and children don’t understand that commercials are designed to sell products.
