California IN BRIEF : FRESNO : Protesters Fear New Iraq Air War

Worried that there will be an “Operation Desert Next,†about a dozen anti-war protesters marched from Fresno’s new City Hall to the Federal Building. Vincent Lavery, who spearheaded anti-war vigils in the city during the Gulf War, said the demonstrators fear that President Bush will resume bombing to knock out Iraq’s nuclear capability. Three Vietnam veterans stood nearby and said they turned out to support the President and show concern for 28 Americans they said remain missing as a result of the Persian Gulf War.
