OXNARD : Man Electrocuted While Fixing Leak
A 53-year-old Oxnard man was electrocuted Sunday as he tried to repair a water leak under his home.
Savatore Palazzo, who lived in the 2300 block of Vina Del Mar, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. John’s Regional Medical Center at 7:23 p.m., Ventura County Deputy Coroner Jim Wingate said.
Palazzo, a self-employed real estate broker, was trying to fix a leaky pipe connecting an ice maker with the home’s main water system, Wingate said.
The property is in the Mandalay Beach area, and Palazzo was lying on wet sand under the home to reach the leak.
He was using a portable light connected to two extension cords with plugs that did not meet current electrical codes, Wingate said.
The electrocution occurred after Palazzo asked his wife to turn on the water so he could find the leak, Wingate said.
