Iraq’s Nuclear Power

One of the principles under which George Bush led our nation into war was to prevent Saddam Hussein from setting what he called “a dangerous world precedent.†The message: One nation should not be allowed to conquer another with impunity. If that argument holds true, which I believe it does, President Bush is faced with an equally compelling challenge.

If he allows Saddam to maintain his nuclear capacity in direct violation of international agreement, he is allowing Iraq to set “a dangerous world precedent†(Part A, June 29). Bush’s comparison of Hussein to Hitler is once again applicable. Would the world have stood by and watched Germany rearm in direct violation of its surrender conditions?
