Anna Christie (Showtime, Tuesday at 6 a.m.). Greta Garbo made her 1930 talkie debut with this effective (if a trifle stagy) film version of the Eugene O’Neill play; her oft-quoted first line: “Gimme a viskey. Ginger ale on the side. And don’ be stingy, ba-bee.â€
Show Boat (TNT, Thursday at 8:35 p.m.). As part of TNT’s Independence Day salute to great American musicals, it is airing a recently restored print of the 1951 MGM version of the Jerome Kern-Oscar Hammerstein musical starring Kathryn Grayson and Howard Keel and directed by George Sidney.
