Investment Firm Buys Del Amo Hospital
Del Amo Hospital, a 166-bed psychiatric facility in Torrance, has been bought for $13.5 million by American Health Properties Inc., a West Los Angeles real estate investment company. It was acquired from American Medical International, which owned the hospital for seven years.
The hospital is being operated by Universal Health Services Inc. of Pennsylvania on a lease from the new owner. Opened in 1972, Del Amo offers programs on sexual and substance abuse, multiple-personality disorders, eating disorders and co-dependency.
