A letter from Norbert E. Talbert of Diamond Bar (Letters, May 12) regarding “Four-Star Power” was mistaken on one point. Talbert referred to John J. Pershing as a five-star general. History tells us that Congress gave Pershing the title of General of the Armies of the United States, the only person ever to hold that rank. He was given the authority to design his own insignia and was entitled to wear six stars but never wore more than four.
